I am surprised by the negative reviews. We come to the Outer Banks about 4 times a year and I always stop in at the Beach Pharmacy. They have a little bit of everything, like what used to be called a "Dime Store" or a "Variety" Store when I was young. Pharmacy items mixed in with a little bit of everything from baby clothes to touristy bobbles to office supplies It's a great little place and we like supporting a local shop.
Old-fashioned, unassuming little pharmacy doing it's job perfectly in an area where the are no chain drugstores. They provide a much needed service in this area. Nice staff.
I was on vacation and needed to have my doctor call in a prescription. The pharmacy had the forms ready for me to fill out and quickly took my information. Very pleasant people. I had feared I would have to drive 50 mile to get a prescription filled because Avon is way out on the barrier island. The rest of the store has essentials but it is not fully stocked. Seems to exist for the pharmacy.
Pricy. Paid about 1.5 times normal price for Nicorette. ($60 instead of normal $40)
The woman at the Beach pharmacy of Avon made it a point to make my visit difficult. I explained politely that I was out of town & I was in pain. She said she couldn't fill it until I filled out paperwork. I offered to sign it when I got there. She refused & made me come from 30 mins away to fill out my name & address. Then she told me she'd lock the doors so my fiancé couldn't get in cuz they were closed. Then once it was filled she made me wait 10 mins while she waited on another customer who was a local. They wouldn't let me out of the doors leading outside because I was angry over this whole experience. She told me "what do I expect, to call at 2pm & get a rx in 3 hours". Well gee, CVS & Walmart do it. The only reason they are in town is cuz they are the only ones!! So much for southern hospitality!!
