Great local pharmacy one of the few left in Portland. I highly recommend getting your prescriptions filled here if you can to support a Portland institution. Plus they're really friendly and helpful.
Paulsen's Pharmacy is the best pharmacy EVER!!!!!!!!!!! I have been to the store and the people take care of you so well and are so understanding if you have any questions! If you live in Portland OR. this is the place to go. Even consider moving pharmacy's like from safeway to paulsen's caus ethe are the best, and most trustworthy, In My Opinion!!!!
I'd never thought I could actually ENJOY going to the pharmacy, but I love this place.
Paulsen's is no longer locally owned. It has been sold to a chain. The worst thing this pharmacy did was that they refilled a prescription with the wrong dosage. I had prescriptions for two different dosages of the same medicine. The present r/x is two 25 mg tabs per day (totaling 50 mg per day); the old rx was two 100 tabs per day (totaling 200 mg a day). There have been other changes in my medication, which means that they balance out fine. This pharmacy filled the 100 tab rx, which was old, and I no longer take that much. I called the pharmacy and left a message about this mistake. The pharmacy did a refill for me; but never called back with an apology or reason for their serious mistake. If I had not studied the label on the bottle, it would have been dangerous for me to take 200 mg/day instead of the new rx of 50 mg a day. Another thing – believe it or not, this pharmacy’s phone number will actually sound the “busy” signal sometimes. Very remarkable and unprofessional not to allow a Hold or possibly to leave a voice mail. I had only recently transferred to Paulsen’s from a different local pharmacy, which had changed ownership and become sloppy. I’ve only been with Paulsen’s for about 6 weeks and have transferred to a national chain. Wish I could find a local pharmacy that was competent. Update: I have not been a Paulsen's customer for over a month now, for the reasons I have written here already. But today I received a robocall from them.
I've wasted a lot of time here. I really wanted to like them and I really wanted to support my local businesses. They're generally unprofessional and "familial" in the worst way. Waiting for over 10 minutes (after the transaction is complete) while the girl working behind the counter gets counseled by the friend/customer in front of me is not something I need brought to the workplace. 1 in 5 attempts have I shown up and had my prescription actually filled and waiting for me. They seem completely unorganized with very little focus on professionalism. I never once made it out of there in under 15 minutes, and once had to wait over an hour for my prescriptions to be filled and properly billed to insurance (and that WASN'T my first time there, they already had all my information, which hadn't changed). I guess if you're looking for a place to hang out for an hour or two, Paulsen's is the pharmacy for you. I transferred all my prescriptions to Rite Aid across the street, walked in the next day, they were neatly hanging in bags, ready for pick-up, paid and out the door in 5 minutes.
